Check out our fun interview with bestselling author, Catherine Bybee, during the recent RT13 convention in Kansas City, MI 🙂

Sara and I actually interviewed Catherine in her hotel room one morning because the ‘press room’ was mysteriously locked.

Aspiring authors and those considering becoming self-published should pay close attention to the tips and experiences Ms Bybee went through during her trail-blazing days in self-publishing.

Fans of her various contemporary romance series, there’s something for you too 🙂

Enjoy and feel free to post a comment.

Drive Me Wild coverTitle: Drive Me Wild

Series: The Others (book 7)

Author: Christine Warren

Rating: 5 stars

Publisher: St Martin’s Press

Publication Date: November 27, 2012

Review: I devoured this book! I wish Christine Warren had written even more about Tess and Rafael after their HEA, so I could enjoy more of their hot chemistry and honest communication. 😀

Drive Me Wild” is the 7th book in The Others series and the second that I’ve read; book 6, “On The Prowl” was also an enjoyable read for me.

Tess is a funny, honest young woman whom we first meet while on stake-out of The Council’s offices in a stately home in New York. Seems her grandfather, former head of The Witches’ Council, has tasked Tess with passing on an important message to Rafe, head of The Council of Others.

STAR-5

Here’s a brief excerpt from Ch 1 which made me LOL and root for Tess right from the start:

Heere, kitty, kitty, kitty…                                       The singsong call echoed through her head, making Tess Menzies bite down on her lip to stifle a snicker. You wouldn’t think her current position – crouched in the shadows of an old brownstone, her eyes glued to the elegant facade of the building across the street – would be one conducive to humor but then again, Tess had always been one to laugh at inappropriate moments.

Rafe meanwhile, is a loner who enjoys leading The Council, being Felix of the were-jaguars and a successful businessman. I first ‘met’ him in “On The Prowl” in a few key scenes. Impressive, sexy and dangerous, that was my impression of him.

In “Drive Me Wild” he does not disappoint, even though we see more of his determination to enjoy Tess than we do of him facing off with an opponent until the second half of the book. Don’t get me wrong, I loved seeing him explore his passionate connection to Tess 😉 That table scene…hot!

The author does a great job of letting Rafe’s jaguar instincts ‘come through’ during his more intimate interactions with Tess without being heavy-handed or spelling it out in a distracting manner. Here’s an example from their first encounter, after Rafe captures Tess, having turned the tables and followed her:

“What would please me is you letting me go!”

That damned chuckle again. “Ah, but that would not please me, sweet Tess, and since I am currently the one in control here, it is my wish that counts.

Tess harrumphed. “And isn’t that just like a man?”

“Or like a beast.” His eyes flashed, and his gaze slid to her lips. “And you know the truth about beasts and beauties, don’t you? The beasts always take what they want and damn the consequences.”

Her only warning was a flash of gold before his head dipped, and his mouth settled hot and hungry over hers.

Rafe purred his approval at the first taste of her. Rich and sweet, it made him want to lap her up like whipping cream.

Although this book is part of a series, you are able to follow along. In fact, we don’t even meet some of the main characters from book 6, so you won’t feel left out at all. There is enough back story woven into book 7 to keep you abreast of everything.

Drive Me Wild coverSynopsis: Tess Menzies can work a spell with a few blinks of her baby blue eyes. But this dedicated witch can’t summon up a single good reason she’s been made an envoy between her kind and Manhattan’s fiercest were-creatures.

The two sides haven’t spoken in four hundred years, and she’ll need every miracle in the book to broker any kind of truce. And that means outwitting Council of Others leader Rafael De Santos whose tantalizing moves and fierce hungry kisses are magic even a formidable sorceress can’t resist . . .

It doesn’t take a cat’s supernatural senses for Rafael to suspect that there’s something strange about this unexpected peace offering. And finding the truth is just as tempting as uncovering the secrets Tess is trying to conceal. Why, she’s tantalizing enough to make this wandering were-jaguar think he’s found the perfect mate—one he’s only dreamed of. But his stealth and her spells can’t guarantee they have a chance at survival, much less a future together…
